Kim: Corporate

Expat in Germany —

My former intern said the n-word on more than one occasion (he didn't call me the n-word, but he said it in my presence, even after I asked him never to say the word again). He didn't apologize and showed no remorse until I said I wasn't comfortable working with him anymore. He then proceeded to tell at me, berate me and call me "ridiculous." Mind you, I was his supervisor.

After he parted ways with the company (all legally), he wrote to the worker's council to complain about me. In 2019, when I had to meet with the WC, the global representative told me he was unaware that one cannot say the n-word.

I've never seen such a display of white privilege in such a manner.

This triggered me to leave the company.
